Dental Implant Surgery at REGEN Periodontics & Dental Implant Center
At REGEN Periodontics & Dental Implant Center located in Allen, TX, we specialize in the placement of dental implants. Led by our board-certified periodontist, Dr. Ling, our team is committed to ensuring your dental implant journey is smooth and comfortable. Here's what you can expect throughout the process.
Consultation and Planning
The journey to a successful dental implant begins with a comprehensive consultation. You may be referred by your general dentist, or you can reach out to us directly. During this initial visit, we will thoroughly review your medical and dental history, conduct an oral examination, and discuss your expectations and goals for the treatment.
To further our understanding of your dental structure, we use advanced 3D Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT). This technology provides a detailed view of your oral cavity, allowing us to evaluate the quality and quantity of your bone, and ascertain the best positioning for the implant.
Following the assessment, we'll present a personalized treatment plan, which will include the surgical procedure, the timeline, and a detailed overview of the financial options available to you.
Day of the Dental Implant Surgery
On the day of the surgery, you have the option to select from various levels of sedation, or opt for no sedation, depending on your comfort level and the complexity of the procedure.
Depending on the specifics of your case, we have the option to utilize the X-guide system, which offers real-time 3D navigation. This state-of-the-art technology allows us to visualize the exact positioning of the implant during surgery, leading to more precise and predictable outcomes.
The implant surgery involves placing a titanium post into your jawbone. This post acts as a replacement for the tooth root, providing a strong foundation for the artificial tooth. Our experienced team ensures the procedure is performed meticulously, maintaining the highest standards of care.
Post-Operative Care
After the surgery, we will schedule a follow-up appointment within 1-2 weeks to monitor your healing process. We'll provide specific post-operative instructions, which may include recommendations on diet, oral hygiene routines, and any necessary prescriptions for managing discomfort and preventing infection.
Implant Integration
Over the course of 3-6 months, the implant will integrate with your jawbone in a process known as osseointegration. This period can vary depending on individual healing rates and the specifics of the surgical site. We will monitor this integration closely to ensure the implant is securely anchored and ready for the final restoration.
Completion of the Implant Process
Once the implant is well-integrated, you will be referred back to your general dentist to complete the restoration - the placement of the artificial tooth or teeth. If you do not have a general dentist, we're more than happy to recommend a trusted professional in our network.
At REGEN Periodontics & Dental Implant Center, we pride ourselves on our patient-centered approach, technological proficiency, and commitment to excellence in periodontics. Whether you're replacing a single tooth or require multiple implants, our goal is to restore function, aesthetics, and confidence to your smile.
